The main reason being the yearly arrival of Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. As we all know, the equation goes as such: peanut butter egg > peanut butter cup. Why? PB eggs have more peanut butter. Another updated Tipsy Tags logo

Is it interesting reading about the development of a logo? Anyways. This is another version of a previously posted Tipsy Tags logo. Conceptually, I like it a great deal. I believe this version is closer to the idea the previous version was trying to convey of an image that represented both a wine glass and a wine bottle (upside down). This time, the "tag" actually sits underneath the icon representing both a hanging tag and a cork. Why didn't I think of that sooner?

UPDATED: Added yet another version of this logo with bigger text. Does it lose the allusion to the wine bottle?

As a boy who has never owned a Super Nintendo, I was always jealous of those who did. I had a Sega Genesis. Sure, we didn't have have Mario, Final Fantasy, or a good version of Street Figther 2, but dammit, we had Sonic. Sonic was awesome. He was fast and was full to 'tude. JUST LIKE ME - or so thought the 12 year old Ion.

In the past few years though, Sonic has pretty much been horrible. Gone were the 2D blazing fast levels - replaced by 3D exploring. That's not Sonic! Where's the 'tude?! Where's the speed?!

Well after 10 years or so, Sega has finally answered our cries to bring back the Sonic of yore. They are releasing Sonic 4 and it looks like a return to form. Check out this badly filmed video of someone playing it... AWESOME!

What's on the 4th?

These are logo comps for Infectious' recently launched monthly Free4All contest. We quickly went through three versions before finally settling on #3. To be quite honest, I'm more fond of the first two from a conceptual point of view (the 4 in the calendar representing "4" in Free4All seemed like a no brainer to me). Apparently though, the first two executions lead to people thinking February 4th had some kind of significance, which it obviously does not.

Not mad at the final version either. Just like the other versions, it easily lends itself to being constantly updated every month. Just change the month and the "pop" color and you're set. I can see the logo evolving in the next few months, but we'll see.

Okay, so I'm pretty sure everyone who actually LIKES football would disagree with me, but yeah, I'm totally more excited about this logo than the actual game. The type here just looks SO powerful. Big, bold and in your face! JUST LIKE FOOTBALL & BEER! SPORTS! Perfect for a game involving large, muscular men, tackling each other on a grass field.

Anyways, yeah, I also like how the logo is flat, but still achieves dimensionally. The shadow underneath is a bit awkward, but I don't mind it enough to really care.

I just pulled this from an email exchange I had with Jordan & Anna. Anna hates Lost, but she's totally wrong, so her opinion doesn't matter (jk Anna. jk. Sort of). Anyhow, here's what I had to say

I'm really excited about it too! I think it's off to a great start. I imagine the end of the season being the 2 parallel universes somehow meeting and everyone having ot make somekind of choice between the 2. I also like that there's now an apparent ultimate villain (Man in black/Fake Locke/Smoke Monster). A lot of stuff was explained last night, but there are some new questions...

Jordan, I made this connection this morning... Remember the conversation between the Man in Black and Jacob and there was a ship arriving to the island in the distance? I'm PRETTY sure that's the arrival of the Black Rock (the ship on the island with all the dynamite). I think that's how the Others first came to be on the island (hundreds of years ago)... Also remember how the Man in Black mentions how he remembered Richard in chains? I'm guessing the Black Rock ship was some kind of slave vessel or a ship housing convicts...

AWESOME.

Later, Jordan sent me his friend Malachi's thoughts. They are better written than mine and I totally agree with them.

I really liked the premier and the direction the final season seems to be going in. I love the fantasy or mythology based mystery (as opposed to crime mystery) a lot, and so I find Lost to be one of the most fun shows to watch when it's firing on all cylinders, as it has been. I've heard that the alternate timeline will merge with the "correct" timeline about mid-season. It feels like the whole season is going to be basically a showdown between Jacob and the man in black (Esau?) and we'll learn a little more about the nature of the island and the forces of Jacob and Not-Locke (who, by the way, gave the creepiest face EVER during the premier. You probably know the one I'm talking about) I realized the other day that I don't much care if they don't explain much more of the mysteries. They've answered a lot more questions than I realized when looking at some of the series-long plot synopsis. I think there is still a good chance that the finale will feel sort of like a let down, but I think the last season as a whole will probably be the strongest.

Counting the moments till next Tuesday.

Diesel dumber than ever. Gets stupid.

I absolutely worshipped Diesel's advertising as a graphic design student. A lot of it was just so strange. They always ran with these crazy, outlandish concepts that were often times beautifully photographed featuring attractive people in various stages of undress. "Awesome!" the early 20's version of me exclaimed. But then, as the years went by, something happened. Diesel got less creative and kind of stale and I basically stopped caring.

Which brings us to their latest "Be Stupid" campaign. Love it. Reminds me of those old ads: Whimsical, sexy, and fun.

One day I'll have the opportunity to travel the world and when I visit Berlin, I shall use this very attractive map done by nomono. If I actually get lost, I'll probably just use my iPhone.

This came through the Infectious voting gallery today. Really nice piece by San Francisco artist, Charmaine Olivia. I met her briefly at Sketch Tuesdays at 111 Minna back in October 2009 (I even bought one of her pieces, which I swear I'll get around to putting up one day).

I also really dig this piece she did. Obviously a reference to Dinosaur Comics.

This popped up on my Facebook feed today. Yes, this a tornado in Huntington Beach. Yes, in Southern California. Yes, at the beach. Apparently I moved away from Orange County not cause I hated living there, but as a survival instinct.

I guess this proves that it's okay for you to complain about the rain, California.

Just finished watching Season 5 of Lost last night. That means soak up everything lost related as soon as possible (IMDB & Wikipedia "ENGAGE!")! That lead me to find these awesome little guys. One-of-a-kind sculptures of Locke and Hurley from The LOST Underground Art Show by Wade Schin
